Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen operations. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in North Indian and Maharashtrian cuisines, with an understanding of tiffin-style meal planning, mass catering, and daily kitchen management. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that every dish leaving the kitchen meets our high standards of taste, freshness, and homeliness.

Key Responsibilities

Menu Planning & Culinary Excellence

  • Curate and rotate weekly/monthly menus focusing on North Indian and Maharashtrian dishes — sabzis, dals, rotis, rice varieties, snacks, and festive specialties.
  • Balance traditional recipes with modern, health-conscious preparation methods.
  • Plan meals with variety, nutrition, and regional balance suited for tiffin-style delivery.

Kitchen Operations & Management

  • Oversee daily kitchen workflow — preparation, cooking, portioning, and tiffin dispatch.
  • Maintain strict hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety (FSSAI compliance).
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for timely purchase of fresh raw materials.
  • Ensure optimum use of resources and minimize food wastage.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, train, and motivate the kitchen team (commis, helpers, packers).
  • Assign daily tasks and ensure punctuality, teamwork, and discipline in operations.
  • Foster a culture of pride and passion for food.

Quality & Cost Control

  • Maintain consistency in taste, portion size, and presentation across batches.
  • Track and manage kitchen expenses, food cost, and inventory efficiently.
  • Introduce standard recipes and checklists for uniformity and control.

 

Customer Experience

  • Incorporate customer feedback to fine-tune menus and preparations.
  • Support the team for special occasions, bulk orders, or festival menus.
  • Uphold the Jeh’s Nest promise — home-style taste, every single time.

Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Adhere to and enforce strict hygiene and safety standards in the kitchen.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with health regulations.
  • Implement and monitor food safety practices, including proper storage and handling of ingredients.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in Indian kitchen operations — preferably in tiffin services, canteen setups, catering, or cloud kitchens.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in North Indian and Maharashtrian cooking styles.
  • Excellent leadership, time management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle volume-based cooking while maintaining quality and hygiene.
  • Knowledge of kitchen safety, sanitation, and FSSAI standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Culinary Arts / Hotel Management.
  • Prior experience in a home-style kitchen, corporate tiffin service, or meal prep setup preferred.
